Rubeus(Ruby) & Safir(Sapphire)

While these two weren't brothers, their origin lies in the same mineral. Ruby and sapphire are both gem varieties of corundum.

Corundum:
Al2O3

Hardness--9
No cleavage
Uneven fracture with rectangular parting
Adamantine luster
Transparent to translucent
Variable color

Corundum forms hexagonal crystals. It is often found as an accessory mineral in metamorphosed carbonates, and in some Aluminum-rich igneous rocks. Massive corundum forms emery deposits in carbonite skarns. Emery deposits are hard compact deposits of corundum-magnetite-hematite ore.
